There may be some confusion over the instrument referred to as a MANDOLA
in my compositions and arrangements.
I have been using the name to refer to what some might call an Octave Mandolin, tuned G D A E an octave lower than a standard mandolin. I have recently been reminded that the name can also refer to an ‘Alto mandolin’ with the same tuning as a viola C G D A.I will, in future, make it quite clear to which instrument I am referringTherefore, please note that -In any of my scores,If an instrument is referred to simply as a MANDOLAthis signifies an OCTAVE MANDOLINSorry for any confusion
